Matthew Aaron Taylor
Filmmaker. Writer. Storyteller.
He started in grade school writing plays, songs accompanied by guitar, and even a fantasy novella. His stories, no matter the format, were either based on his favorite shows, experiences, or his own
imaginative worlds. Writing and telling stories was how Matt connected to the world and others.
At 13, Matt was introduced to a Mini DV tape recorder and the idea that he could put his stories into visual format. From that moment, he saw the world from the view of a camera: the audience's perspective.
High school brought practical applications for his skills with the opportunity to create music videos and highlight reels of school events. At 17 he started his first business and focused on gaining professional experience making videos for local businesses, weddings, and the community.
Matt acquired his undergraduate degree from Arkansas State University where he connected with prominent, local film company, Anthem Pictures, at a job fair and earned an internship. He increased his technical skills working on projects for high profile names like Taylor Swift, Tim McGraw, The Band Perry and other country music artists under Big Machine Record Label Group out of Nashville, TN. Throughout college and beyond, Matt continued to hone his skills working on narrative films, documentaries, and commercials.
Matt has now been working in the film industry for 10 years and he’s moving forward by creating Ascension Stories and doing exactly what he’s been doing since grade school – telling stories he loves. Matt is combining his passion for storytelling with professional experience, resources, and the ability to share content with others. The scale is bigger, but the core idea hasn’t changed. Matt tells stories.
